Recovery - to get back something that was lost or stolen
– anonymous supposedly dictionary definition
The fascinating thing about recovery, be it from drugs, alcohol, mental health, creativity, or "normalcy" of any form, is that we rarely have a clear target. We don't know exactly what's been lost, although we've clearly ended up places that aren't where we wanted to be.
And yet without knowing where we're going, we get somewhere. Like wandering in a foreign city, letting our feet carry us, spurned on by the wafting smell of pastries and the laughter just around the corner, we suddenly emerge from a dark alleyway and into an open square bathed with light.
